Custom Instructor-led Training: FAQ

What is considered "custom" instructor-led training (ILT)?
Any course that CCU developers alter in some way is considered a custom course. We actually make a distinction internally between custom and developed courses, but outside of CCU most people just simply say "custom" courses. We distinguish between custom - meaning it recombines existing material, such as mixing half a day of one course with half a day of another; while developed refers to a class where new material is created or added to a class. At Canterbury Corporate University we can develop new material that integrates with existing classes - like adding a new client specific chapter to a standard course, or create new material - like creating a new course based on a proprietary program.

When is a custom instructor-led course the right training option?
Because custom ILT courses can range from a simple addition of a handout explaining some client specific information up to a full blown new course on some proprietary system, almost any private class can benefit from customization. Customizing a class to a specific client, department or program is one of the best ways to increases the value and effectiveness of a training class.

Custom ILT courses are ideal for

adding company or department specific examples to a private class
documenting business processes or policies and distributing through the training material
focusing training on the specific use of an application rather than on generic skills
implementing training program on propriety or highly customized applications
